Why I Built Etanah: My Own Story of Being Told “Everything Is Normal”

By Talia Sessel, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

The personal experience behind Etanah’s approach to concierge, root-cause medicine.

A few years ago, I wasn’t feeling like myself. I was tired in a way that didn’t make sense, and

something felt off, even though from the outside, I looked like someone accomplishing a

lot and doing well. So I went to see practitioners. They ran labs. And every time, I got the same answer:

everything was within normal range. I felt dismissed. I knew, from the inside, that something wasn’t adding up, even if the numbers on paper said otherwise.

The Gap Between “Normal” and “Optimal”

That experience became the reason I built Etanah. I knew there was something I could optimize, change, or address to actually reach what I felt my potential was, not just clear a baseline threshold on a lab report. So I took additional training and studied specifically how to help patients optimize their health beyond the labs and beyond “normal” reference ranges. That distinction matters more than people realize. “Normal” on a lab report is a wide range, built to catch disease, not to tell you whether you’re operating anywhere close to your best. Most patients fall somewhere in that gap: technically fine, but far from thriving.

What I Can Actually Promise You

I can’t promise miracles. No one honestly can. But I can promise this:

I will listen to you

I will take your concerns seriously

We will collaborate, working together, human to human, toward what you’re actually

trying to reach.

That’s the foundation Etanah is built on: concierge care that treats your goals as valid, even when your labs look “fine.”

Health Span, Not Just Lifespan

At the core of everything we do at Etanah is a simple belief: health isn’t just about how long

you live, it’s about how well you live along the way. That’s the difference between lifespan

and health span, and it’s the lens through which every consultation, every lab review, and

every treatment plan is built.

If you’ve ever been told your labs are normal but you still don’t feel like yourself, I

understand that experience personally, and it’s exactly the gap Etanah was created to

close.
